A Hartford man has pleaded guilty and received 25 years in prison for an incident where he beat up a 77-year-old Ellington man in the course of a multi-town crime spree in October 2011, according to the Hartford Courant.

The bizarre case involving Raul Diaz began as a burglary in Enfield, continued as a hit-and-run in Somers, escalated into an assault on Wilhelm Frederick in Ellington, and ended with a crash in an Ellington front yard.

At the time, Diaz, then 40, of 185 Hungerford St. in Hartford, was charged with home invasion, second-degree assault of an elderly person, second-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree larceny. Bond was $1 million cash.
