Hospice Care Volunteer Training Session

Enfield, CT- Home & Community Health Services Inc. (H&CHS), the home care and hospice agency of Johnson Memorial Medical Center, will be offering a three session volunteer training program for the following dates and times: Wednesday, June 12th from 4pm-8pm, Saturday, June 15th from 8:30am-5:30pm, and Wednesday, June 19th from 4pm-8pm. The training sessions will give volunteers an overview of hospice care, while teaching them the skills needed to perform their daily duties. Hospice volunteers provide friendly and supportive visits for terminally ill clients and their families. Volunteers give no hand on care to the client but may offer assistance in the home such as light housework, preparing meals, playing cards or board games, other light duties or just providing a quiet presence. The training programs will take place at H&CHS on 101 Phoenix Ave., Enfield, CT. For more information or to pre-register for the classes call Cathy Truehart, Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator at 413-563-1440.
