OK, here's an excellent and very timely Hartford Courant article that demonstrates CT's culture ofRead More corruption. Politicians in this state do this stuff routinely. The only time we hear about it is when they get caught. Just think about all the times they don't get caught. The FBI practically lives in this state. I understand your point, Chris, and I do agree that there is a perception of a conflict of interest.Read More As a reminder, this is CT, however, where we have more elected officials currently or recently in prison per capita than every other state in the country. There is a culture of corruption in CT not seen in most other states. It is so rampant that many elected officials don't even think twice about it. Dan Malloy's recent trip to DC, paid for by the media, is a perfect example! He only reimbursed that magazine after he got caught. But, it didn't even cross his mind that it might be inappropriate while he was doing it. If it had, he would have never accepted their invitiation or paid for the trip himself upfront.

I'm not kidding. Elected officials who have a clear financial interest should not be allowed to voteRead More on something that could potentially effect said financial interests. Why? Because elected officials are there to serve the interest of their constituents, not to gain financially by use of their elected office. What the two school board members should have done was abstain from voting on this issue.
