The writer of this article should make a correction...only the first two on the list of 7 possiblyRead More contaminated fruits are organic. Organic produce usually has the PLU starting with the number 9. All the others listed as Orchard Perfect fruits are not organic. Orchard Perfect is just a brand and is not organic. Way to scare people into thinking organic is bad.

Jen - you're totally correct.

Sure, if you're the bicyclist you can - and should - do that, I agree. My point was that thisRead More article is about which towns are the safest for bicyclists and so my point was that I'm not sure that just because some towns have task forces, outreach, and engagement actually makes them truly any safer in reality without widening some roads, which are typically pretty narrow in CT, too narrow for cars and bikes to correctly share them.

Yes, it should follow that "distracted cycling" is against the law - easy enough to findRead More out. Enforcement of laws is certainly important safety of all users of the road, and is recognized as such, but there are four others that are necessary for a Town to become Bike-Friendly, which is the point of the survey initiative. Linda was on to one of the others - Education. For the rest of the "E"s, go to www.bikeleague.org/content/5-es and follow what is happening nation-wide to make cycling a safe and acceptable activity everywhere. As for this initial survey, the results are clearly not very accurate, and hopefully many more people will care to participate next time.

I didn't see any stats about how many bike accidents there were? In Fairfield, we see tons ofRead More bicycles. Most do not follow the rules of the road...they go the wrong way, they fail to signal, they fail to yield the right of way, at stop signs, and most are adults who certainly should know better. Yesterday I saw a man on a scooter, without a helmet, on So. Benson Rd...ON THE PHONE! I really believe that most of the roads, in Fairfield are unsafe for bicycling. It's not the fault of the roads, but traffic is very heavy in this town, and people do not use caution and common sense. I really believe a bike in this town, is extremely dangerous.

Whatever therapy, either physical or mental, that Justina gets from here on out should be paid forRead More by those who hurt her & her family. Theresa, Cigarette Butts are the biggest physical pollutants in the world. End to end, cigaretteRead More butts can encircle the earth at least ten times. The subject has been "litter", and that's what I commented on correctly. Air pollution is another catagorie, and I agree both are extremely critical to the health of our planet, and both need immediate attention.
JYD May 28, 2014 at 11:39 pm
There are many responsible smokers out there who don't litter, and there are non-smokers who do. WeRead More vacation on the beaches in the Carolinas that are pet friendly. No litter and no animal waste... Because it appears people give a damn and violators are held accountable. This is a regional issue among us, because it's not a problem in other areas of the country. And, yes, it is political. As long we keep electing the same people over and over again at the local and state level, the lack of accountability will continue.

One great thing to using a credit card is if the vendor doesn't hold up their end of the deal, youRead More could always file a dispute w/ your bank. I've done this and won several times. Just telling the vendor you are going to do this has rectified the situation for me once too. (Yes, it's best to be able to pay off the balance in full at the end of each month). "Andrew Mitchell Blum" "Fairfield, CT"
PaulCT May 25, 2014 at 07:39 pm
The POINTS made in this post are excellent. Sounds like many are seeing this with their own vision,Read More many negative. We use credit cards EVERY single time we pay for anything that takes a card. We PAY off balances in total each and every month, so interest rate is a non-issue. The major points made in this article are the RIGHT reasons to use a card (if you pay off the balance, just like you would pay cash or check for whatever you are paying ...). MOST important is the cards we use we earn $ on the purchases we would make anyhow (from gasoline to groceries to clothing to taxes...). And that "cash back" ( up to 5% ) and/or hotel free nights ... FREE, duh. FAR better $ than the interest we earn in a savings account in recent years. And, I'm glad to say we have not paid a penny for a hotel room in years. Also, I often advise young relatives on beginning their finances, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS encourage them to establish credit responsibility by starting with a credit card rather than just spend cash ... and always to monitor their ongoing experiences with this. Every single one has thanked me over and over for being way ahead of their peers in their finances and credit scores. They have established that financial responsibility by this as a first step to a lifetime of credit worthiness, certainly usefull in their future.
Tips to improve your credit score: Many Factors impact this important three-digit number.
Craig R May 25, 2014 at 03:26 pm
Pay off highest balances first - ABSOLUTELY DUMB. There is no difference if you pay $100 against aRead More $10,000 limit or $5,000 limit card. You paid $100 of $15,000 total limit. This is basic math. You pay the highest interest rate first. And once you have paid off a card-CUT IT UP. Don't cancel it but destroy it so you can't use it to rack up your debt. BEST ADVICE-DON'T BUY MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD.
mike murphy May 25, 2014 at 07:56 pm
Not reading a comment is also quite dumb. If you paid attention , I advised people to pay down, orRead More off the Credit Card that had the Highest Interest Rate, not necessarly the biggest balance

Does anyone wonder if maybe, just maybe, there is something more to this case we may not be privyRead More to. It would be so easy to send her home and let this case go away, but every judge that has looked at the PRIVATE medical facts has decided not to release her. Maybe it is a great injustice, or maybe there is something to the States claims medical privacy law keep us from seeing.
