The school was founded in 1893 and moved to its current location along the banks of the Connecticut River in the early 1960s. Over the years, the school has boasted a number of state championship teams, including field hockey (five), ice hockey (three), wrestling (two) and boys basketball (one). Notable alumni include former National Hockey League star Craig Janney, actor John Ashton ("Beverly Hills Cop") and Sports Illustrated senior writer Peter King.
