Panther Plunge Exceeds Goal of $10,000 Since 2010

An Enfield man was recognized at today's "swim" in the East Windsor Reservoir to raise money for the East Windsor Fuel Bank with the best costume.

Dozens of people dressed in various shades of green took to the frigid waters of the East Windsor Reservoir Saturday afternoon as part of an annual effort to raise money for people in need.

And as hoped, this proved to be the year that helped reach the goal of raising more than $10,000 for the East Windsor Fuel Bank.

Based on donations along, more than $1,800 was collected prior to the dip into the 47ºF water; the money raised from the raffles and gate fees have yet to be counted.

The crisp air, overcast sky and chilly water temperature did not deter Chuck Ilioff of Enfield from taking out his grass skirt, ukulele and leis. Ilioff was recognized for having the best costume of the day.
