Enfield Girls, 10 & 12: 'We Just Want to Help the Homeless'

The girls will be holding a bake sale outside of ShopRite to raise funds for the Enfield Food Shelf.

Two Enfield girls are not just saying they want to make a difference — they're putting plans in motion to make it a reality.

And it starts right here in their own community.

On May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Abigail Gorman and Madison McGinnis are holding a bake sale outside of ShopRite of Enfield to raise money for the Enfield Food Shelf

"I get a lot of requests from different organizations to sit outside and raise funds for various events and reasons, but what made this one stand out from all the rest is that these two girls are 10 and 12 years old," said Charles Miller, ShopRite of Enfield owner.

The girls wrote a hand-written letter to Miller, asking for permission to hold the bake sale outside his store. In that letter, they wrote:

"We are not with an organization, we just want to help the homeless."

"The ShopRite of Enfield devotes a lot of time and resources to helping the community but we never look at what we do as being charity. Rather we use the phrase 'shared values' because we strongly believe we are directly intertwined to the success of those around us; the better the community, the better our business," Miller added. "These two girls, Abigail and Madison, reflect this philosophy perfectly."

"Please come out and show your appreciation and support for these two young ladies who recognize the need of those less fortunate and let's help make their bake sale a huge success," Miller said.

ShopRite of Enfield is located at 40 Hazard Ave.
