When and how did your business get started?
I opened my business venture in July 2013. I consider myself to be a second-phase-in-life entrepreneur. After the completion of working 33 years in Corporate America I suddently realized I no longer wanted to be a part of that working
environment and decided to chase my dreams of organizing a business venture and assume the risk associated with it. I guess this labels me as a risk taker.
Why did you choose the town you chose to start your business in?
I chose to open my Shoppe in Enfield as this is the town I live in. From a convenience standpoint it works perfectly. I believe this location to be a potential sweet spot as the North Thompsonville area is revived. I am certain bordering on the Mass. line along with other local CT towns this is a potential business venture that will allow me to grow my customer base and market share relatively quick.
What is your business best known for?
My business is best known for that Specialty type gift along with personalized gift packaging. One stop shopping at an affordable price. We carry a variety of popular and unique merchandise including Stuffies, Crystal,, Kringle candles, Memory/remembrance lamps, Woodstock Wind chimes, Mud pie products, Bearcoup designs jewelry, Lolita wine glasses and many other products and seasonal gifts.
What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?
Something interesting about my business that you may not know is that the name of my shoppe AvaLee is derived from the middle names of my granddaughter and daughter combined.
Does your business offer a special deals card or program?
Coupons available on the website for 15% off total purchase, also coupons are included in the Hometown Quarterly.
