Raiders Have Stafford's Number Again

Enfield captures 28-24 win in consolation game of Enfield Rotary Classic.

Rachel Kaliff had a double-double, scoring 10 points and hauling down 12 rebounds, to lead Enfield past Stafford 28-24 in the consolation game of the 19th annual Enfield Rotary Classic Thursday.

Kaliff, who was named to the All-Tournament team, had eight of her points in the second half, enabling the Raiders to top the Bulldogs for the second time in less than three weeks.

Both teams had difficulty finding the basket, as the game was scoreless for the first 5:55. Enfield led 3-2 after one quarter, and the Bulldogs held a 10-8 lead at halftime.

The lead changed five times in the second half, until a 6-0 run put the Raiders ahead to stay early in the fourth quarter.

After struggling in the opening game of the tournament Wednesday, Taylor Maier contributed seven points and solid defense to the winning effort. "She was in a whole different place tonight," Enfield head coach Megan Willis said.

Brenna Roy, who also was named to the All-Tournament team, led Stafford with 11 points, while Kelsey Heavener added 10.

Both teams return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. Enfield (2-4) hosts East Granby, while Stafford (0-6) travels to SMSA.
