Fermi Booters Hang On to Edge Tolland

Conor Glettenberg scores the only goal as Falcons defeat Eagles, 1-0.

An early second-half corner kick led to the only goal of the game, as host Fermi High School defeated Tolland 1-0 in CCC East boys soccer action Tuesday in Enfield.

On the corner kick, Casey Kajdan passed the ball to Dale Quesnel, who fed Conor Glettenberg near the right side of the net. Glettenberg beat Tolland goalkeeper Alistair Richardson for what proved to be the game's only score.

Both teams had some scoring opportunities, but either missed the net or were denied by Richardson and Fermi goalkeeper Alex Zachary.

"We dominated territorially, but we gave them some opportunities," Fermi head coach Jim Russell said. "They are a young team, and I start 10 seniors."

Tolland coach Jim Leahy said, "(Fermi) is always better on the turf than on grass. It was a pretty even match, but they took advantage of their chances better than we took advantage of ours."

The Falcons wore pink socks in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Both teams return to action Friday at 3:45 p.m. Fermi (5-4) plays at Hartford Public, while Tolland (3-7) hosts RHAM.
