Falcons Beat Enfield to Advance to Rotary Classic Finals

Fermi to face Montville for championship Thursday; Enfield takes on Stafford in consolation game.

Justyce Jenkins scored 13 points, all in the second half, to lead Fermi past crosstown rival Enfield 40-25 in the first round of the 19th annual Enfield Rotary Classic girls basketball tournament Wednesday at Enfield High School.

Jenkins drained three free throws down the stretch after Enfield had cut the Falcon's lead to nine. She then capped the scoring with an old-fashioned three point play with 28 seconds remaining.

"I kind of challenged Justyce at halftime to get mad at somebody besides me for yelling at her all the time," Fermi head coach Sean Sweeney said. "She had good opportunities in the first half but she wasn't finishing, but between her and Jill Crouse, they were the difference in the second half. Jill basically wanted the ball on every rebound."
