Avon Cross Country Sweeps 4-Way Meet at Enfield

Boys' and girls' teams show their strength against Enfield, East Windsor and SMSA.

On a perfect afternoon for running, the Avon High School cross country teams made it a clean sweep in a four-way meet at Enfield High School Thursday.

The Falcon girls shut out Enfield, East Windsor and SMSA by 15-50 scores. Ryley Higgins was the overall winner, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 21:33. Avon placed the top 12 runners in the girls' race.

Enfield's top finisher was Stephanie Malicki, while Chelsea Bertussi was the top runner for East Windsor.

On the boys' side, Avon posted identical 15-50 shutouts against Enfield and SMSA, and defeated East Windsor by a 21-38 count.

Clayton O'Dell of East Windsor won the race, with Connor Wise leading the Avon contingent in second place. KeJuan Williams was the top Enfield finisher.
