Asnuntuck Holds Annual Candlelight Vigil

Poetry For Peace part of annual event promoting peace and the safe return of U.S. troops.

Asnuntuck Community College held a candlelight vigil for peace and the safe return of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Iraq Monday, followed by an evening of poetry and music commemorating September 11, 2001.

The candlelight vigil was held outside the front entrance of the college. Poetry for Peace, an open reading for peace, followed the vigil, with Asnuntuck faculty, staff and students reading their own poems and poems by others, all with a focus on peace.   Members of the community also participated in an open mic portion of the evening.

The college began holding candlelight vigils in 2002.
