Malloy Wants Federal Action on Gun Controls in Wake of Newtown Shootings

Speaking at a press conference Monday the governor also said he had to break the news Friday to some grieving Newtown parents that their children were dead.

As families of some of the 26 people killed in the Newtown shooting rampage begin burying their loved ones, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said the federal government needs to get serious about enacting stricter gun laws.

Speaking at a press conference in Hartford on Monday, Malloy also said that while he was in the Sandy Hook Firehouse last week with some of the parents of the 20 children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School he realized that some of them had waited hours for word of their loved ones and did not know that their children were gone. He took on the grim task of ending their uncertainty, he said.

“I made the decision that … to have that go on any longer was wrong,” Malloy said, as he fought back tears.

He also said told reporters that he wants federal lawmakers to get serious on gun control legislation.

“Do I think Washington D.C. needs to get its act together and enact stricter gun control laws at the federal level? You bet I do.”

Malloy has called for a moment of silence this Friday and for churches to toll their bells 26 times in honor of the shooting victims.

We need a health care system that is modeled after the Cuban System. However only the overturn of capitalism will make that possible. We are against any laws or regulations by this capitalist government that impinge on the working class right to own firearms and defend themselves.

To Mallloy: I say we need gun control all right, we need you to terminate and disarm your cops and disarm your national guard. If we had know that the the ex wife of a VP at GE Capital had so much as a cap gun we would have confiscated it. Take your gun laws off are backs and disarm your capitalist state apparatus.

To Hope Rice. A health care system operated by a capitalist government or capitalist enterprise will never be complete because the profit system can not be made to violate the profit systems own rules. Only a system modeled after the Cuban one on a grand scale can begin to provide health care for all where the only requirement is to be human.

People who have never fired a rifle, shot gun or pistol may think those who do so always use a target like those shown on police shows and are preparing to kill someone. Firing a 'gun' does give one a sense of power. So does participating in other athletic events and it is a recognized Olympic sport. I don't own a 'gun' but I can understand why people like using them even if the target is nothing more that concentric circles. You can find lots of women working in offices but when was the last time you saw a women climb a utility pole? Do the companies refuse to hire women or are women more often frightened of heights and electricity choosing to seek work elsewhere? I have climbed poles for a living and I can tell you that when your 25+ feet up looking at vehicles down the road below its an adrenaline rush.

Security guards in our schools immediately. More resources to local and state police. More resources for towns, such as Mansfield to have its own local police department. Please stop the hysterical thinking that jumping to change laws will make an immediate or future better CT. Our current laws didn't work. Look at the man in Hartford texting his girlfriend that he would do a Sandy Hook if she didn't listen to him. There he was holding guns he wasn't able to buy himself. What would any laws do to keep him from holding those guns that day. Crazy people are all ready out there and we don't always catch them. Look at the masked men tormenting the people in Mansfield. Armed and breaking in our homes. They have not been caught. Even the idea of reinforcing the laws doesn't give us immediate protection. If we need "to do something now" then do something now. Our schools and children were not protected because we didn't protect them. Most mass shooting occur in "Free Fire zones." Allow conceal carry everywhere now. Provide the schools protection now with police officers and/or security guards at every school. Make parents show picture ID's. Stop wasting time. Talk is not protecting the children right now.
