Two men who have combined to serve Enfield students for nearly three-quarters of a century were honored for their dedication at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.
and are both retiring at the end of June. They will be replaced by , a Newington administrator who officially takes over as superintendent on July 1, and Chris Drezek, the school system's human resources director who will assume the title of deputy superintendent.
Gallacher is departing after 20 years at the helm, while began as a teacher in 1959, and later became the first principal of before being named assistant superintendent in 1973.
Both men were presented proclamations from the town of Enfield by Mayor Scott Kaupin.
