Enfield Republicans Face Off in Primary Tuesday, September 10

Registered Enfield Republicans will have the opportunity to solidify the party's slate for town council when polls open Tues., Sept. 10.

Tuesday's ballot features a party-endorsed slate of candidates against a group of mostly incumbent party members who have petitioned to get on the ballot.

The results of Tuesday's primary will give the Republican party its slate, which will run against Democratic candidates in the 2013 municipal election in November.

According to a legal notice filed with the town clerk, party-endorsed candidates include former board of education member Patrick Droney, former councilman Michael Ludwick and incumbent Deputy Mayor Ken Nelson, Jr.,

Petitioning candidates include Donna Szewczak, incumbent Councilmen At-Large Carol Hall, Gregory Stokes, Sr. and incumbent Mayor Scott Kaupin.

This year's municipal election will be held on Tues., Nov. 5 and will decide terms through November 2015.

Polls for the Sept. 10 primary will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. in town.
