Enfield Recognized at State Capitol Wednesday

The town of Enfield will be recognized at the state capitol Wednesday as one of 35 towns committed to energy efficiency.

A ceremony will be held Wednesday morning to celebrate the 35 towns earning the "Bright Idea Grant," which ranges from $5,000 to $15,000, and will be used for a "community-selected energy-saving project."

As a participant in the state's Clean Energy Communities program, Enfield pledged "to reduce municipal building energy consumption by 20 percent by 2018, and to voluntarily purchase 20 percent of its municipal electric needs from renewable sources by 2018."

The 35 towns to be recognized during Wednesday's ceremony include:

Avon, Beacon Falls, Berlin, Bethany, Bloomfield, Bridgeport, Cornwall, Durham, Easton, East Haven, Enfield, Fairfield, Farmington, Glastonbury, Guilford, Hamden, Hartford, Madison, Mansfield, Middletown, Milford, New London, Newtown, North Haven, Orange, Portland, Somers, Southbury, Stratford, Trumbull, West Hartford, Weston, Westport, Wilton, and Woodbridge.
