Three Suspects Arrested in Connection with Murder of Man Found in Suffield

The body was found stuffed in a duffel bag near Quarry Ridge in West Suffield Friday; medical examiner says blunt force trauma to the head caused man's death.

Three people from Hartford have been taken into custody in connection with the slaying of another city man whose body was found stuffed into a duffel bag in West Suffield last week.

The duffel bag contained a trash bag which contained the body of Peter Boateng, 56. It was found Friday by a pair of hikers near Quarry and Phelps roads, Suffield Police Chief Michael Manzi said.

According to the Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner, the cause of Boateng's death was blunt force trauma to the head, and it has been ruled a homicide.

Manzi said the case was turned over to Hartford police, who arrested the three suspects Tuesday.

Jose Rodriguez, 34, is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence, and is being held on $1 million bond.

Anthony Hudson, 45, is charged with accessory to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. Meaghan Cowles, 28, is charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence. They are each being held on $750,000 bond.

Police said they believe Boateng was killed in Hartford.
