Suffield Assault Suspect In Police Custody In Windsor Locks

Manhunt caused brief lockdown of some Enfield schools Tuesday morning.

The teenager sought in connection with an alleged assault at the Lincoln Technical Institute campus in Suffield has been taken into custody by Windsor Locks police, Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.

Sferrazza said his department was notified around 10 a.m. that Dale Wakefield, 19, had been found in Windsor Locks. He did not have any information if any charges had been filed against Wakefield.

Attempts to reach police officials in Windsor Locks and Suffield were unsuccessful Tuesday morning.

According to the Hartford Courant, Wakefield was charged with breach of peace of the second degree, threatening, criminal mischief of the first degree and criminal mischief of the fourth degree.

Wakefield allegedly assaulted a security officer around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, then fled campus. He was initially believed to be a threat to himself and/or others, and was traced to the area of the Connecticut River, leading Enfield police to recommend a lockdown at schools on the western side of town.
