State Police 2013 Super Bowl Sunday Enforcement

A press release from the Connecticut State Police about enforcement on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Super Bowl has become one of America’s biggest and most entertaining national sporting events.

This Sunday, February 3, friends and families will gather to watch the big game and to enjoy the festivities surrounding the game. The parties, however, can make it one of the year’s most dangerous days on the roads and highways of our state due to impaired, driving-related accidents.

State Police offer some life-saving suggestions to keep everyone safe on Super Bowl Sunday.  Act responsibly by designating a sober, non-drinking driver before the game even starts.  The game tends to be an all-day event—REMEMBER FRIENDS NEVER LET FRIENDS DRIVE DRUNK!  Be prepared to call a cab for a friend or get that friend a ride with a sober driver.

Connecticut State Police Colonel Danny R. Stebbins noted, “The designation of a sober driver is the best way to avoid a tragedy or injury caused by a drunk driver.  Remember jail time, fines, loss of license, and other penalties can ruin a celebratory day.”

Troopers will be attentive to all roads and highways across the state for the possibility of drunk drivers during and after the big game. Troopers will aggressively enforce all motor vehicle laws.

In Connecticut, FOOTBALL POOLS are legal as long as all of the money taken in for the pool is given back to the winners participating in the pool. No percentage or cut can be taken by the person organizing the pool for his/her time and/or expense of running the pool.

NOTE: NO BETTING POOLS OF ANY KIND CAN BE RUN IN ANY ESTABLISHMENT OR BAR SELLING ALCOHOL.
