South Windsor Police Say Attack Not Random; Facebook Page Established for Victims

A vigil is planned for the victims - Robert Lareau and Ryan Kelleher - on Saturday.

South Windsor police are in the midst of investigating an attack Tuesday that took place at a local automotive business and left two men hospitalized with serious injuries.

Chief of Police Matthew Reed said that police were following up on information provided by one of the two victims, as well as posts on a Facebook page that identified at least one of the alleged assailants.

The Facebook page, “Pray for Bob and Ryan,” was created to provide information on the conditions of the two men - Forced Induction Motorsports owner Robert Lareau, 28, of Enfield, and Ryan Kelleher, 21, of Windsor, who are still receiving treatment at Hartford Hospital.

"Police are aware of a Facebook page that has been posted regarding the assaults and are investigating the information on that page," Reed said.

Lareau was in intensive care as of yesterday, while Kelleher was conscious and had been interviewed by police. Both men received serious head and facial injuries, possibly from an exhaust pipe, according to police.

Reed said that the attack does not appear to be a random act.

"The building [located at 51 Edwin Road] where the attack occurred houses several different businesses, most of which were unoccupied at the time of the incident," Reed said in a message to South Windsor Patch.

Police are encouraging anyone who was in the area of 51 Edwin Road on Tuesday night between 8:30 and 9:20 p.m. to contact them at 860-644-2551.

Forced Induction Motorsports is located in a building in a South Windsor commercial zone with other industrial-type businesses. According to its website, FIM is an automobile repair and upgrading business.

A vigil for the two men has been planned for 7 p.m. Saturday at Forced Induction Motorsports, according to the Facebook page.

Have you held the hand of someone with a tragic brain injury? Just hoping and praying they wake? Yes someone with a past that was not favorable, and at the same time I was doing everything I could to keep a family member out of jail, as he was charged with being the cause of this accident! It is tragic, a phone call changes the life of everyone involved....then the media, cops, and small town gossip, family history on top of just trying to figure out how the hell things got this way. All the families and friends involved here, victim or otherwise are living in a daze, and trying to find out where things go from here. Karma is not just physical.....when negative thoughts, and pointing out someone's past......as if that means they deserve to have this sort of thing happen.......comes back too that is also karma! I do have a question how is it that you were so close bob & josh and they are so horrible and your not? You will put them on blast but won't even sign your name?

I no longer associate myself with these people for these very reasons. No need to put my name because I do not want to be associated with their actions
