As crews work to replace the utility pole on Route 220, police are now directing traffic through the accident scene via a single lane.
Traffic heading into Massachusetts from Connecticut was backed up for a half-mile around 1 p.m.
A police officer at the scene estimated both lanes would re-open by 2 p.m.

Motorists who use Taylor Road near the state prison complex to get to Massachusetts are being diverted Wednesday morning due to an accident.
A tractor-trailer truck struck a utility pole on Route 220 just over the border in East Longmeadow, MA. That section of roadway, known as Shaker Road, is closed between the state line and Pease Road, near the Hasbro plant, according to a report on WWLP-TV.
No estimate has been given as to when the road will re-open, the report said.
