Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Train in Enfield

Very little information available at this time.

An unidentified person was struck and killed by a Connecticut Southern freight train on the tracks directly behind the grounds of Enfield High School Wednesday afternoon.

Police confirmed the person was killed around 4:45 p.m. Police are investigating the situation.

The fatality took place behind the northwest corner of the Enfield High School property, behind the athletic stadium. The location is about 1,000 feet north of the Bridge Street railroad crossing.

The victim's body was covered and shielded by police as they awaited the arrival of a railroad supervisor.

No further information was immediately available as to the identity of the victim or the cause of the incident.
