Man Injured In I-91 Accident In Enfield

Two southbound lanes were closed due to the Friday night crash.

A Hartford man was hospitalized Friday night after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 91 in Enfield.

Nejaughn Ware, 37, was traveling south on the highway about a quarter-mile north of Exit 46 at 9:48 p.m. when his 2003 Mercury Mountaineer swerved into the right shoulder, then across all three travel lanes and struck the cement median barrier, partially penetrating the barrier, a state police report said.

Ware was ejected from the vehicle, and was found lying unconscious partially under the guardrail off the right shoulder when first responders arrived, police said.

He was transported by to Hartford Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition at 9:30 Sunday morning. He sustained head lacerations and a rib injury, accoring to the police report.

The vehicle came to rest sideways, blocking the right and center travel lanes. Traffic was backed up for several miles as police, fire and rescue personnel worked at the scene.
