UPDATE: Gas Leak Closes Stateline Plaza

A strong odor of gas has prompted evacuation of the plaza.

UPDATE, 12:02 p.m.

Enfield Mayor Scott Kaupin wrote, "After extensive metering by Yankee Gas, no leak was found and the Plaza is being reopened. Yankee Gas will continue to monitor."

The Stateline Plaza on Freshwater Boulevard will be closed until further notice due to a reported gas leak in the building.

The odor of gas was reported from Dick's Sporting Goods and spread into adjacent businesses, Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.

Police and fire personnel ar working at the scene, according to radio dispatches.

The parking lot to the plaza is closed, but Freshwater Boulevard will remain open to through traffic, according to an alert sent through the town's Everbridge notification system.
