There were more accidents this holiday weekend when compared to 2011, but they were not as deadly, state police report.

The Connecticut State Police Memorial Day enforcement period began at midnight on Friday, May 25, and continued until midnight on Monday, May 28, according to a press release from Connecticut State Police Commanding Officer Lt. J. Paul Vance.

The enforcement efforts produced the following results:

  •  DWI Arrests: 77

Connecticut State Troopers will continue enforcement efforts as the summer months begin, the press release said. The goal of the state police enforcement effort is to rid the roads of aggressive and impaired and unsafe drivers, the press release noted.
