Enfield Woman Struck by Car, Hospitalized
The incident happened in a parking lot off of Route 83 in Somers.

A pedestrians sustained injuries after being struck by a car Tuesday in a parking lot off of Route 83 near the center of Somers.
According to a police report, at 1:53 p.m. Dolena A. Besse, 59, of Enfield, was walking to her car in the parking lot of the Southfield Corners Shops & Offices, located at 48 South Road near the town center, when she was struck by a car driving toward the parking lot exit.
Besse sustained moderate-to-severe injuries and was rushed to St. Francis Hospital via the Somers Ambulance, police said.
Police said the vehicle, driven by Ellington resident Robert Beaverstock, 87, continued without stopping. With a help of a witness at the scene, responding officers later located Beaverstock and the vehicle, police said.
Police said the operator did not appear to have been aware that he struck anyone.
No charges have been filed however police said the case remains under investigation.
