Enfield Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

Police say three videos were found on a computer, showing children under age 16 engaged in sex acts.

A Thompsonville man was charged Friday afternoon with possessing child pornography.

Rafael J. Mendoza, 21, of 4 Martin St., was charged with third-degree illegal possession of child pornography, importing child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. Bond was set at $10,000.

Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said detectives began an investigation in October 2012 into alleged child pornography over the Internet.

A computer was confiscated, and a warrant was served on Cox Communications. An IP address from the machine subsequently came back to Mendoza, Sferrazza said.

Police reviewed files on the computer and found three videos of children under age 16 involved in sex acts and poses, Sferrazza said.

The arrest warrant is sealed, and no further information was available, the chief added.
