Update: Road Remains Closed as Police Investigate Fatal Crash

Southern portion of Broad Brook Road was the site of a fatal crash that killed two people early Tuesday morning.

UPDATE: 10:10 a.m.

A man and woman were killed when the car they were riding in was hit from behind, slammed into a guardrail and overturned, police said.

The two deceased persons, a 57-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were passengers in the rear seat of the car. Both were ejected from the vehicle, Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.

Sferrazza said the car was traveling southbound on Broad Brook Road just past Fletcher Road around 1:07 a.m. when the crash occurred.

The names of the victims have not yet been released, Sferrazza said.

Broad Brook Road remained closed at 10:10 a.m. while an accident reconstruction team continued to work at the scene, Lt. Steve Kaselouskas said.

Original Story:

Two people were killed and two others injured in an auto accident early Tuesday morning in southern Enfield, according to police.

The crash happened on Broad Brook Road, also known as Route 191, around 1 a.m. The portion of the road between Town Farm Road and southern Abbe Road (near the East Windsor town line) remains closed as of 7:25 a.m., police said.

WFSB-TV reported that the four victims, all in one car, were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, including one who was flown by Lifestar helicopter.

An update by WTNH-TV indicated three of the victims had been ejected from the vehicle, which was on its roof. Two men and two women were in the car, and one man and one woman had died, the station reported.

Police are looking for a older model full-sized pickup truck, two-toned blue in color, that may have been involved in the accident but fled the scene, Channel 3 reported.
