NAFTA at 20: "Fast Track" More Problems

Trade deficits mean lost US jobs and manufacturing capacity.
Trade deficits mean lost US jobs and manufacturing capacity.
Why has America lost 5.5 million manufacturing jobs in the 21st century?  Why are our stores full of imports while our country has lost over 54,000 factories since 2000?  Why has so much of our productive economy --and our jobs, tax base, and opportunities for the future-- been moved offshore?

The story of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) gives key insight into the crisis our country faces:

And now they are trying to revive fast track for more un"Fair" trade, they promise job creation, they just don't say in what country. The TPP = NAFTA on Steroids http://suffield.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/is-america-about-to-join-the-race-to-the-bottom-it-does-look-that-way

It scares me how few people know anything about Fast - Track, or any of the horrid trade deals coming down the line that will make NAFTA look good. I have been trying to educate people on this for months now, have met with some of our members of congress and it feels like a loosing battle... Not that I am giving up

Shannon, unfortunately most people are either lazy or don’t pay attention, and that is why so few people know anything about this.  Studies suggest that only about 1% of the population participates in the political process (runs for office, works for an elected official, etc.), while another 9% pay close attention to what is going on with politics.  A whopping 90% don’t have a clue about what is going on except for the major headlines, and unfortunately, most politicians exploit this fact.
