Obituary: Robert Kegler

Enfield resident was killed in an accident early Monday morning.

Robert S. Kegler, 61, a resident of Enfield since 1975 and formerly of Norwalk, died early Monday morning, May 21, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital as a result of a motor vehicle and motorcycle accident. 

He was born and educated in Detroit, Michigan a son of the late Norman and Mary (Stanfield) Kegler. Bob continued his education by earning his B.S. degree in engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He was employed for many years with a number of companies as a computer programmer in the manufacturing of computer software, most recently with Custom Metal Crafters of Newington. He also was employed for the past ten years with Big Y Supermarkets in the Ellington and Stafford Springs stores.

Bob was an avid bicyclist, motorcyclist, and will be lovingly remembered by his family as a man who tinkered with everything he could find. Bob also will be remembered as a man who was well-read.

He is survived by his loving children, Kristen W. Sabonis and her husband Richard of Enfield, and Robert W. Kegler of Middletown; his former wife, Donna Weaver of Milford; two grandchildren, Elizabeth L. and Richard J. Sabonis; a sister-in-law, Beverly Kegler of Old Saybrook along with her son, Benjamin Kegler; and his cousin, Judith Kegler of Warren, MI. He was predeceased by his brother Paul Kegler. 

Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Thursday evening, May 24 from 6-8 p.m. at , 61 South Rd., Enfield. Services and interment will take place at a later date in the Kegler family lot at Evergreen Cemetery in Warren, Michigan.
