Obituary: Joseph Hogan

Joseph Peter Hogan, 68, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly while fishing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Tuesday (May 21, 2013). He was the beloved husband of 29 years to Lesley (Sidman) Hogan.

He was born Aug. 31, 1944 in Glens Falls, NY, son of the late John J. and Anne (Breen) Hogan, and had resided in Enfield for the past 28 years. Joseph was a graduate of Syracuse University. He was a combat veteran having served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force with Special Operations. Joe was employed by the FAA as an air traffic controller from 1982-1994. He was member of the Tanguay-Magill Post 80 American Legion, Enfield, Grey’s Club of Enfield and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1525.  

Besides his wife Lesley, Joseph is survived by his children: Kelly Hogan of Tampa, FL, Laura Hogan of Houston, TX, Jean (Hogan) Morrow and Joseph Hogan, both of Indianola, IA, and his seven beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Jude (Hogan) Catlin of New York, and a brother, Mark Hogan of Massachusetts, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by his siblings, John J. Hogan, Jr., Maryanne (Hogan) Zwack, Matthew J. Hogan and Ruth (Hogan) Neeley.

Relatives and friends may gather with Joseph’s family during calling hours Friday (May 24, 2013) from 4-7 p.m., followed by a Memorial and Remembrance Service with Fr. John Melnick officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield. Interment with military honors will take place Saturday (May 25, 2013) at 12 noon in the Connecticut Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln., Middletown.
