Obituary: Irene Misiewicz

Irene A. (Adams) Misiewicz, 89, of Enfield, died peacefully at home Tuesday, July 30, 2013, with the angels at her side. Irene was the loving wife of 60 years to the late Edward J. Misiewicz.

She was born in Somersville on Feb. 25, 1924 to Joseph and Sophie (Murawski) Adams. Irene spent her girlhood in Somersville, and graduated from Rockville High School in the class of 1941. Irene worked for Bell Telephone Company before marrying her sweetheart, Ed, and moving to Enfield, where she resided for 58 years. She was employed for several years by Sage-Allen department store, where she met some of her closest friends. Irene was an extremely loving and devoted wife and mother, who dedicated her life to her home and family. She kept a spotless house, grew beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, and nurtured a lawn that resembled green velvet. She was a fabulous cook, and her pierogi, babka, and cheesecake were the stuff of legend. Irene loved the Boston Red Sox, feeding her backyard birds (especially the cardinals), gladiolas, peonies, and the color blue. Irene was the hardest worker, who excelled at everything she tackled.

Irene will be forever loved and sadly missed by her five children: Michael Misiewicz and his wife Mary Lou of Colchester, Marilyn Fiore and her husband Robert of Wurtsboro, NY, Patricia Donelan and her husband William of Andover, MA, Dr. Thomas Misiewicz of Enfield, and Christine Cremona and her husband Thomas of Enfield. Irene also leaves her cherished grandchildren: Marcus Fiore, Matthew Fiore and his wife Olivia, Rebecca Cremona, Kevin Cremona and his wife Chelsie, Sarah Donelan and Michael Donelan, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Amelia Bala and her husband Mitchell of Enfield, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley Adams and Edward Adams.
