Obituary: George Jones

George W. Jones, 82, of Enfield, beloved husband of 48 years to the late Emily S. (Salamon) Jones, entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. 

George was born September 9, 1930 in Hartford, son of the late Arthur and Laura (DeCoste) Jones, and had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. Prior to his retirement, George was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections for 23 years and then with Aetna Insurance Co. for several years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to classical music, classic cars and working on projects around his home, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with family.

George is survived by his beloved family: a son, Gary E. Jones of Enfield; a daughter, Linda J. Landusky and husband Martin of Windsor Locks; a daughter, DiAnn M. Murray and husband Russell of Enfield; and his seven grandchildren: Katherine, Matthew and Jeffrey Fawkner, Heather and Melissa Murray and Patrick and Matthew Landusky. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Jones and wife Jean of East Hartford, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield.

Funeral services for George will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at noon, with Pastor Kevin Flannery officiating at the funeral home. Committal services will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield.
