The Rocket’s Red Glare, Connecticut, and the War of 1812

Date of Program: Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Visit the Enfield Public Library on Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 PM for, The Rocket’s Red Glare, Connecticut, and the War of 1812, presented by historian, Dr. Glenn S. Gordinier.

The illustrated talk The Rocket’s Red Glare, Connecticut, and the War of 1812 will examine how that oft forgotten war relates to the Nutmeg State.  Linked closely through trade with the warring French and British, Connecticut farmers, merchants and sailors profited, and suffered, before 1812.  Eventually, local warriors practiced asymmetrical warfare against the Royal Navy in the name of patriotism and profit.  Then, with the war’s end Connecticut’s innovators led the proud young nation into a new era.
