Friends of the Enfield Library Meeting featuring author James R. Benn

Date of Program:  Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Visit the Enfield Public Library on Tuesday, October 29th at 7:00 PM for the Friends of the Enfield Library Meeting.  Best-selling author, James R. Benn, will be giving a presentation, and will have books on hand for sale and signing.

Hadlyme, Connecticut resident, author James R. Benn, is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and received his MLS degree from Southern Connecticut State University.  Benn worked in both the library and information technology fields for over thirty-five years before he quit the “day job routine” in 2011 to write full-time.  He is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Author’s Guild.  He has written many captivating novels from the Billy Boyle World War II mystery series to Traumatized: the Story of a State Trooper – a collaborative work of non-fiction with CT State Trooper, John G. Patterson, and Benn’s wife, Deborah Mandel, LPC. On writing, Benn refers to two quotes, “The art of writing is the art of applying the seat of one’s pants to a chair,” (Oscar Wilde), and “…the story has to move down, as well as forward” (novelist Rachel Basch), both of which, he states, “...sound simple.  Neither is.”
