Area Libraries Acquire New Catalog

Beginning June 2, 2014, the Enfield Public Library is working with a system provider to convert the current software system to a new platform while ensuring minimal disruption of patron services. We appreciate your patience as we upgrade our system to better serve our patrons.

Library patrons will notice a number of new features in Encore, the online catalog associated with Sierra (the new software system).  Encore has a single Google-like search box in which patrons can enter part or all of a title, an author’s name, or a topic they are interested in. The results are returned ranked by relevancy, meaning the most likely items are at the top of the list.

Patrons will be able to easily modify their searches by selecting from a list of limiters on the left side of the screen.  Search results can be limited to items at a single library, items actually in the library and available for check-out, or to the kind of item they are looking for, such as magazine articles, print books, e-books, audio books or DVDs.

On the go patrons who access the catalog with smart phones will automatically be redirected to a version of the catalog optimized for smart phones. This will enable them to do searches, renew items, place holds, and access their account information.

For further information regarding the system upgrade, please visit or call the Circulation Desk (860-763-7512), or visit our library website: www.enfieldpubliclibrary.org
