How You Can Help Families Affected by Enfield's Church Street Fire

Dozens are without a home this holiday season after an early-morning blaze.

Area residents are working hard to provide for multiple families left homeless after their multi-family house was destroyed in an early-morning blaze on Dec. 22.

To help provide immediate necessities for the families — which include children and amounts to dozens of individuals — Enfield's Social Services Department is accepting donations from the public.

Considering the time of year, many may rush to provide gifts and other holiday-related items to ensure affected families have a proper year-end, but the most severe need is monetary donations, according to Assistant Director of Enfield Social Services Joel Cox.

The greatest challenge in providing basic necessities for victims of Sunday's fire is continuing to provide shelter. Monetary donations will help keep a roof over those affected.

According to Enfield Social Services, donations can be made in the form of checks made out to "The Enfield Food Shelf," which is helping to organize and deliver relief to the families. Those writing checks should note on the check that the donation is for the "Church Street Fire Victims."

Donations can be sent to Enfield Social Services, which is located at 100 High Street, Enfield, Ct 06082.
