Allied workshop on April 29 will help families plan for securing the future for children with special needs

Can you guarantee that the needs of your children with disabilities or special needs will be met when you’re gone? What is the difference between guardianship and conservatorship? Can you continue to make critical decisions about your child’s life and safety once they turn 18? How can you save for your child’s future when you can’t even save for your own? What is a special needs trust?

If you’re looking for the answer to questions like these and others, you may be interested in attending a free workshop at Allied Community Services, 3 Pearson Way (across the street from DMV) on April 29th beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The workshop will be presented by Stuart Hawkins of the MetLife Center for Special Needs Planning and Timothy Keeney, Judge of Probate for the Towns of Enfield, Somers, Stafford and Union. Information provided at the workshop will assist families trying to navigate educational, medical, social, legal, vocational and relational issues for children and adults of all ages with special needs.

There is no charge to attend this workshop, but RSVPs are requested to help us accommodate the audience and prepare sufficient handouts. Please call Michael Helechu at (860) 741-3701, ext. 243, or email him at mhelechu@alliedgroup.org to reserve your seats or request additional information. Walk-ins are welcome, but please call to confirm that the program is going on as planned.
