EFEE Announces "Run for your Lives, Enfield" ~Zombie Run~

"Run for your Lives, Enfield"

Sydney Nash is the first recipient of EFEE’s new Student Grant program for her program:  "Run for your Lives, Enfield."  EFEE’s Student Grant program provides mini-grants to students, working with an educator sponsor, for student-initiated programs.  Empowering our students to make a difference instills qualities such as leadership, initiative, creativity, problem-solving, capacity building, and provides them with a greater sense of community.

Miss Nash has been working with her educator sponsor, Brian Zawodniak (JFK TAG Program) to design a program intended to get families physically active together through coordinated runs/walks, which will be held throughout the year.

The Zombie Run/Walk is the inaugural event for "Run for your Lives, Enfield," and will take place on October 27th at 9am at JFK Middle School.  Special thanks to Jarmoc Farms and the many volunteers who will come together to make this a fun and exciting event for all who participate.

About the Course
The run/walk will begin at 9am.   Please arrive between 8:15 and 8:50 to check in.  Families are invited to dress up as zombies or come as you are.  Volunteer zombies will provide "encouragement" to help you through the 1.9 mile family-friendly course.  The course is the middle school cross country course.  It is described as a relatively flat course, with one small hill.  It is partially grassy and partially on back roads.  Easy travels for most people, but please consider your personal limitations for the course.  Families are welcome to run or walk and do as much or as little of the course as they would like and are able.

Registration Information
Families are encouraged to register together and make this event a team effort. A small registration fee ($12) is collected per family to cover some of the expenses of the event.  You can register by mail by using the registration form attached or online at https://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=V12V4J7

Prizes
Everyone who registers as a "Family Run/Walk Participant" on or before October 15th will receive a "Run for your Lives, Enfield" t-shirt.   Top runners in each age catagory receive an award.

Zombie Volunteers!
Zombie volunteers should also register.   There is no charge for our zombie volunteers to participate, but there are a limited number of volunteer slots available.   All zombies under the age of 18 at the time of the event will need parent permission to participate.   Please note that zombies are not permitted, under any circumstances, to have any physical contact with families participating.   We also ask that you use common sense and discretion if participants appear uncomfortable with your costumes (especially young children).   Volunteer zombies should report to the middle school at 8:00am on the day of the run in full costume to check in and receive further instructions. Most importantly, have fun!
