Original Story
Music was Hope Hart-Hartnett's passion, and that love will be her legacy.
A scholarship fund has been created in memory of the beloved 13-year-old middle school student, who died in a fire at her home in the Shaker Pines section of Enfield on Oct. 24, 2012.
"She was a happy kid. She loved everybody, never said anything bad about anyone," her father, Mike Hart, said in a recent interview on WFSB-TV. "I want everyone to remember how she was real friendly and got along with everybody. Everyone around the lake loved her."
The Hope Hart Scholarship Foundation is planning several fundraising events. "All proceeds will be used for junior high and high school students in the town of Enfield that demonstrate exemplary scholastic records and have an interest in music, which was Hope’s passion," the foundation web site states.
A dinner/dance has been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9 from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Enfield Elks Lodge, 138 North Maple St.
Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 9-16 and $1 for ages 8 and under. There will be numerous raffle prizes, door prizes, a cash bar and DJ entertainment.
