In the wake of the weekend blizzard, Enfield Town Manager Matt Coppler has declared a state of emergency to invoke the emergency clause in the collective bargaining agreements with town employees involved in snow removal.
Town crews and contractors will be working throughout the night Saturday into Sunday to open up every street, though some streets may initially only be single lanes, a news release from Coppler's office stated.
Snow removal personnel, which consists of 40 plows, are expected to begin widening the streets to their full width Sunday. Crews will also begin clearing the schools, the release said.
The 24-hour rule to clear sidewalks will not be enforced until Monday at the earliest, according to the release.
Enfield did not sustain any power outages during the storm. The Emergency Operations Center closed at 7 p.m.
