Enfield Photo of the Day: A Bit of History

March 3, 2013.

A view of neighboring Suffield, as seen from across the Connecticut River at the South River Street boat launch in Enfield.

The abutments in the foreground were used to support the former Thompsonville-Suffield Bridge, which connected the two towns from Main Street in Enfield to Burbank Road in Suffield. When construction of the Route 190 bridge was completed, the old bridge was demolished in 1971.
