Johnson Memorial Hospital Fall Fete Event

Wine and music lovers are invited to the home of Friendly’s founder S. Prestley Blake and his wife Helen D. Blake for the Johnson Memorial Hospital Fall Fête event.  The Fall Fête will be held Saturday, October 12th from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm on the picturesque grounds of the Blake’s home located at 700 Hall Hill Road in Somers, Connecticut.  Long time supporters of JMH, the Blake family has offered to host this exciting event in order to raise funds for patient-related equipment in the hospital’s Emergency Department.

During the event, guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the Blake grounds, which include a round barn, a warming house with stone hearth, stone barns, as well as bridges, ponds and wooded areas.  Each outbuilding used will feature a wine or beer tasting coordinated by Kaman’s Fine Wine and Liquor  along with handmade seasonal treats for guests to enjoy. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Come early to enjoy the grounds, and stay for great entertainment with guitarist Tim Maynard, classic rock band Tirebiter starting at 1:00 p.m. and the big band sound of Dick Campo’s sixteen piece orchestra starting at 3:15.  A tent with seating will be provided; however, guests may bring compact folding-chairs and blankets for a more casual feel. (Coolers and backpacks will not be allowed.)

The event is geared toward individuals 21 and older, as there will not be any activities specifically designed for children.  Please keep in mind that the property is expansive and some walking will be necessary. Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended.
