Push For Vote on Armed Guards Fails

A petition to win Enfield residents to vote on whether or not to staff Enfield's public schools with armed guards fell just shy of sufficient signatures.

According to the Enfield registrar of voters office, office staff were able to verify just 2,202 of the more than 2,800 turned in.

2,500 verified signatures were needed to force a referendum.

Petition signatures can be considered invalid for a number of reasons, including illegibility.
