What Would You Improve in Enfield in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Enfield, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Enfield to make it an even better place to live?

What is on your Enfield wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

I would ask that everything POSITIVE that happens in Fermi and JFK and all the schools get as much press as the negative. Let the kids that are trying to do good things get the limelight for a change. I understand the need to know what goes on that is negative, but for each one of those stories, I would love to see two of kids who are doing a good job, or just going along being regular students and keeping their noses clean. They ARE out there.

I would like to see Enfield become even more environmentally friendly. We have made great strides in how we treat our environment. We should build upon our achievements. The towns recycling program is doing very well and seems to be supported by all residents. I would like to see Enfield become more "walkable" and pedestrian friendly. The town can designate shared roadways for bicycle traffic. they can put in crosswalks to increase pedestrian safety. Enfield is working on their power consumption to make town operations more efficient and less costly to its residents. Businesses and residents are also taking up the environmental cause. The more we do, the healthier residents will be.

I would like to see traffic control on Hazard Ave. The lights should be synchronized. It is so annoying to move through one green light and then hit a red light. In addition I would like to see more flowers displayed in public areas. They make for happy residents.

I agree with Steve's environmental post. Additionally, I'd like to see more fiscal responsibility in the local government. Hire the best people for the job and if someone isn't performing, get rid of them.
