Three-Day Enfield Celebration Kicks Off Friday

A wide variety of live music, activities, crafts and food highlight the 29th annual Enfield Fourth of July Town Celebration.

Ever wanted to see the Life Star helicopter up close? Eat spaghetti without using your hands? Watch former athletes attempt to relive their glory days? Or take a trip back in time, when the music of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Grand Funk Railroad dominated the airwaves?

You can do all that - and a whole lot more - this weekend at the annual Enfield Fourth of July Celebration, kicking off Friday at 5 p.m. at the Enfield Town Green.

There is something for everyone at this three-day event, from live music and sporting events to the Independence Day parade and the Taste of Enfield.

"The Fourth of July Town Celebration, our 29th year on the Enfield Town Green, promises to be another fun-filled weekend for all," committee chairman Scott Kaupin said. "The committee has planned a weekend that has something of interest for everyone. The Taste of Enfield is the largest it has ever been with many new vendors, so bring your appetite. The lineup of concerts offers a wide variety of music from southern rock by The Outlaws to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra accompanied by a sixty member choral group. The Independence Day Parade, Children's Activity Area, Teen Zone and Craft Fair will offer good family fun throughout the weekend. The Celebration concludes with the fireworks spectacular by Zambelli International. The entire committee looks forward to meeting up with the community this weekend."

A small sampling of the weekend's events follows; a complete schedule can be found at www.enfieldcelebration.org.
