Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Northern Connecticut

Heavy rainfall Tuesday could cause flooding.

A flash flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for much of New England, including northern Connecticut, effective through 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Early morning rainfall of 1-2 inches will be supplemented with more showers and thunderstorms developing later in the morning, leading to an increased flooding risk, the NWS said in an alert.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 2 inches per hour cause imminent flash flooding possibilities on roads, small creeks and streams, the NWS said.
