Enfield High Grads Help Veteran In Need of Heart Transplant

The family of Laura (Zelina) Whitebean, Enfield High Class of '85, is in need of your support.

Enfield High's class of 1985 has set up a website to benefit the family of classmate Laura (Zelina) Whitebean.

Whitebean's husband, Michael, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, is in advanced heart failure, and the family is in need of help as they go through the transplant process.

According to the website, which has received 36 donations in two days, the family, who now live in Ely, Minn, make 200-mile trips to the hospital each week and 400-mile trips trips to the heart transplant center at the University of Minnesota — all in a '99 Ford Laura fears will break down any day.

Coupled with the price of gas, hotels, food, co-pays and medical bills, it has "become overwhelming," according to the website set up on GoFundMe.com.

The site represents a "transplant fund" to help, it explains, Michael "focus on what's important without having to worry about finances.

The site's goal is to raise $10,000.

Donations can be made easily on the site.
