The best town in Connecticut for teenagers might not be where you’d expect. A Hearst Newspapers analysis shows several of the top 10 towns for teens are in the northeast parts of the state.
Woodstock came out on top, scoring 84.3 out of a possible 100 points, according to CT News. Mansfield (No. 4), Eastford (No. 5), Brooklyn (No. 7) and Scotland (No. 8) are other top-rated towns in that area.
The rankings are based on five criteria, CT News reported:
- The town’s four-year graduation rates for high schoolers
- The percentage of the population between the ages of 15 and 19
- The percentage of teens holding a job
- Teen pregnancy rates
- Arrests numbers for teens charged with drug offenses and driving while intoxicated
Towns in southwestern Connecticut were ranked around the middle of the list, and none of them made the top 10.
